Four Packable Raincoats That Won’t Make You Look Like a Dork
We all know that a lightweight raincoat that is compact is a good idea to pack. But if you’re at all like me you hesitate because most styles that are out there are kind of ugly. Yep, I said it. Butt ugly.
Sadly, what one can easily find looks like its meant for an upcountry backpacking trip. While that’s all well and good, I don’t want to look like a camper when it’s raining and I’m meeting friends for brunch.
I’m an urban trekker and certainly don’t want to look like the country mouse or God-forbid an American in Paris.
So my friend, I’ve done a bit of sleuthing and come up with three options that I think won’t make you look like a dork, but will do the trick. All have hoods which I think is important when running from the car into a building and don’t want to use an umbrella. All can be stuffed into their own pocket or have a pouch.
The hardest part will be choosing which one you prefer.
Oh, and the fourth option… well that’s more of a poncho so not really a coat, but I thought it was stylish and a great option. It’s perfect for those who don’t like much structure or like tucking their tote or purse inside so it doesn’t get wet.
All I ask is that you post a photo of you wearing your treasure on your Instagram or Facebook stories and tag us @kilometer66 so we can see you strutting your stuff.
If it has a leopard print, count Charlene in!
This coat has just the right amount of whimsy and flair for those rainy days. It’s equally appropriate on a farmers market run as well as meeting girlfriends at that hot new brunch spot.
It fold easily into the pocket so it won’t take up a ton of space making perfect in our book.
Polka dots… umm, heck yeah! is Janelle’s motto.
The only thing that would make this even better was if it came in red. But, alas blue dots are better than none. Who wants to be plain Jane anyway? This coat comes with a pouch, but it’s super easy to roll up and find a home in your carry on or tote.
Who said basic black has to be boring?
While this raincoat doesn’t stick out as much as the former two but we think it still has flare. This beauty is a workhorse for sure.
Cinch the belt, or not, it’s up to you. Don’t get us started talking about how much we love the back detail.

It’s kind of glamorous, not fussy, and perfect for those who hate carrying an umbrella. Plop it over with your purse on your shoulder and you’ll be good to go.
The hardest part will be choosing from all the colors. But at this price perhaps two?!
