Magnetized Measuring Cups and Spoons

There is nothing worse than a set of measuring spoons that are connected in our opinion.  That is why we love this set of magnetized measuring cups and spoons.  The magnets allow for easy storage and eliminate the hassle of juggling multiple cups and spoons while cooking. Additionally, the sturdy flat bottoms and flat tops make them perfect for accurate measurements and effortless cleaning.

Grab a set and thank us later.

Sturdy Juicer

Do yourself a favor and stop buying cheap plastic juicers already. The investment in this juicer has proven to be worth every penny, making it indispensable in  our kitchen.  The plastic ones might cost less but won’t hold up in the long run. We know from personal experience.

LESS EFFORT, MORE JUICE: this puppy is designed with a grooved bowl that allows for maximum extraction. With a built-in strainer, the juice to passes through smoothly while catching the seeds and pulp. Plus, it’s so satisfying` to use.

Sharp Knives

In our opinion there is nothing worse than a dull knife. It’s one of those things that if you tolerate truly making cooking harder.

We have been known to check our luggage and brought out own knives to use in a vacation rental ‘cuz it truly drives us nuts to use dull knives.

If you don’t know where to start we wrote this article that will help you pick the right knife, for the right job, at a price that won’t break the bank.

Plus, you’ll learn which knives we each prefer.

Thermapen Thermometer

When it comes to kitchen gadgets cheaper isn’t always the way to go.

We bought several fairly expensive thermometers on Amazon thinking we were saving money only to have them simply not work.  We determined it really is worth investing in quality. You many not be able to start here as you set up your household but you can always as for one for your birthday. Just sayin’!

This cadillac version has a large and bright OLED display and is fast, accurate and waterproof. What else could one ask for that will last a lifetime?!

Bench Scraper

True to its name, you can use it to scrape congealed bread dough (sounds delicious, no?), hardened chocolate, or any other kind of wet, dry, or sticky stuff from your counter or pastry board. It makes your surfaced so much easier to wipe down with soap and water afterward to boot.

We think this is the perfect multi-purpose tool.  We do use it for the purposes listed above but frankly it makes an amazing scopper to transfer all the onions, garlic, herbs or veggies you just chopped.

It is a cheap investment you’ll reach for time and again.

Fish Spatula

This is one of those items you will just have to trust us on.  It’s really become our go-to tool for everything. from stirring, to handling delicate dishes and and out of the oven.

As it’s namesake implies it is great for flipping fish, but it is a versatile tool that slides easily under pancakes as it can a hefty burger. The slats in the blade allow any drippings, liquid, or grease to slip through, while the offset helps slide the blade over the edge of the pan and under whatever you want to turn. .

We literally use it for everything and think it’s the perfect spatula. Enough so that we own three because we got tired of cleaning the one that was usually in the dishwasher.

Chain Mail Scrubber

If cleaning and maintaining cast iron pans is daunting here is our practical solution.  It effectively removes grime without marring the surface or patina you’ve built up.  Seriously, it will significantly reduce the frequency of re-seasoning your cast iron pans.

Plus, it has saved some fairly baked on crud on our stainless steel pans to boot. Again, it’s one of those items that feel a bit extra until you realize how handy it is. We hope you give one a try.

Sharp Kitchen Shears

Truth be told we have thrown away more kitchen knives looking for a pair that was sturdy enough to debone a chicken, yet able to also cut chives. We were gifted a pair of Cutco Super Shears and man, they are worth every penny.

A versatile and sharp pair that come apart for easy cleaning make all the difference!

But we realize not everyone can fork out $141 or can put them on your wedding registry and have someone actually get you a pair. So… here is a dupe that according to Serious Eats (who we trust implicitly) is a great dupe.

Pre-Cut Parchment Paper Sheets

One box of these pre-cut parchment sheets will last longer than you think.  Not only will it save you valuable clean up time, but you’ll be saving tons of money over buying a roll of paper at the grocery store.  We can’t live without them.  Enough so, that we have two sizes for the different size pans we have.  Plus, they are wonderful to wrap those bits of cheese left over from your cheese board.

Non-Slip Nesting Bowls

These bowls are work horses for sure. Janelle put these on her wedding registry and over a decade later they are still as good as new. And we use them daily so that’s saying something.

They have a grip on the bottom that comes in handy when stirring and mixing. Not only do they stack for easy storage they look so good we use them as serving bowls to boot. Can’t say that about your grandma’s stainless steel bowls now can you?

Large Cutting Board

When it comes to cutting boards there is nothing worse than one that slips as you chop. That is why we fell in love with this set.

The large one is big enough to go over our sink and the smaller one is perfect for slicing limes for our afternoon repast. Gin-n-tonic anyone?

Plus, they are a breeze to clean.  You can’t get much better than this can you?!

We hope you take a look at the tools in your kitchen and ask yourself if you are needlessly tolerating sub-par tools. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and setting up your kitchen won’t be either. We hope this list will give you some ideas for simple fixes and perhaps some investment items to ask for next Christmas.

Note: Nothing in this post was sponsored or gifted in any way… these are just our honest thoughts on brands we think are worth highlighting.
