Don’t Settle for an Ugly Cutting Board
Cutting boards aren’t just for kitchen prep anymore.
Yeah, you’re gonna grab them to chop up veggies and carve meat, but their usefulness doesn’t have to stop there.
We see our wooden boards as functional artwork propped up against a backsplash, a corraler of bottles and spices cluttering up a countertop, and, most of all, the best serving trays for any party or meal. Let us sing you the song of our obsession.
Over the years we began collecting wooden cutting boards.
As we combined households, we decided they were too beautiful to be stored out of sight and thus, the cutting board wall was born.
Having them handy for chopping is a plus, but honestly we love having them on hand to create a quick cheese plate for lighter dinners or when unexpected guests appear. Even the humblest cheese is instantly elevated, and it magically looks like we took more effort than we did. We share all our secrets to creating a great spread here.
Fortunately, you don’t have to break the bank to build your own collection. There are so many options at various price points to choose from, and it’s a practical enough purchase to justify itself.
We’re sharing three basic options to get you started, along with a few more if you’re ready to upgrade.
Here’s the perfect entry point
If you’re just starting out or have a limited budget, this is the one to start with. It’s just the right size for chopping and makes a perfect charcuterie board for your money.

Looking for something larger?
Olive wood is one of our favorites. While not as much fun as sourcing them at a local market while vacationing in the Mediterranean, it sure beats hauling it back in your luggage.
We won’t tell that you didn’t get to Tunisia to score this beauty.
When you’re ready for a splurge…
These are called Romeo & Juliet boards, and we think the hardest choice is choosing which style of wood you want to nab. The unique interlocking curves make these genuinely functional pieces of art. Just imagine them nesting on your countertop. They make the perfect just-because gift, or take a page from our book and add them to your own wish-list for a loved one so they’ll know exactly how to pamper you.
